Production Research: Field Assistant (103811)

Studies the basic principles of plant and animal life and the affects of varying environmental and physical conditions. The best candidate will have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. This role is responsible for assisting the Woodland Production Research Scientist to take detailed field observations throughout the season and oversee other tasks to accomplish trials successfully. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Qualifications / Requirements:
Education:High school diploma
Work
Experience: Field work is beneficial
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree and 0-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area highly preferred.
Special Skills:
Basic Knowledge of Agriculture
Good Physical Health
Certificates, Licenses etc.:
Proof of US citizenship and age
Driver license
Physical Requirements:
Work outdoors in both cool and extreme heat conditions. Lifting requirements will be less than 60 lbs.
Performs lifting, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, or repetitive motions/movement greater than 20 motions an hour.
Essential Functions:
Detailed observations and note taking (60% of time spent)
Data summary and analysis
Protocol drafting and revisions (Job Safety Analysis, Work Instructions, and ISO)
Sowing & transplanting
Chemical applications to crops via ATV or backpack sprayer
Hand harvest crop
Threshing and conditioning
Seed extraction and conditioning
Seed weights
Other general farm tasks as requiredEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
