Breeder for Woodland, CA to conduct research in onion breeding in collaboration with large multidisciplinary research team to develop new parental lines & support research pipeline advancement through the production of high quality breeder seed; design, develop & implement breeding research projects in collaboration with pathology & breeding technology scientists; oversee day-to-day breeding program operations; ensure safe operation of research program & compliance with company ESH policies; manage program budget; recruit, train & develop research support personnel. Requires Ph.D. in Plant Breeding or closely-related field; 2 yrs field research experience developing new hybrid combinations from advanced inbred lines; developing new parental inbred lines; analyzing plant observations & testing data; applying quantitative genetics & molecular markers to plant breeding; and working with database applications, spreadsheet software, experimental design & statistics.
